I am sitting at 4 am listening to the Prayer Room coming live from Kansas City and appreciating the peace of God's presence. Regardless of circumstances it is great to know God and to know that as surely as the sun will he will come to us.
Thank God for another good day in his presence. Regardless of light and sound problems caused by overload we had an awesome time of worship both morning and evening. Thanks to the worship and tech teams for working well together and for making the best of the situation. It's always good to look back at the end of any day and to feel you made the most of that day. That's how I felt personally about Sunday.
Sunday Morning: We looked again at Walking with Giants. This time I talked about the Holy Spirit being a giant in our lives. In John 14:17 Jesus said of the Holy Spirit, "You know him, for he lives with you and will be in you". Jesus began this discourse with the words, "I tell you the truth". He did so because he understood the importance and the power of truth, for he said in John 8:32, "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free". Freedom comes from knowing the truth, and the truth is the Holy Spirit lives with us and lives within us and therefore walks with us. He (the Holy Spirit) is the "another counsellor" that Jesus said the Father would send. In the Old Testament God made his dwelling place "with men", but is the New Testament he made his dwelling place "in us" by sending his Holy Spirit. He lives with us; he dwells within us; he walks with us.
Sunday night: We looked at Psalm 139:16 where David said, "We are fearfully and wonderfully made". We did not emerge from a primordial mud soup as the original slime ball on planet earth, but we are fearfully and wonderfully made by the hand of God. Yet every now and again evolutionists claim they finally have proof that we did emerge from the mud soup to become fish that became apes that became human. We looked at several of these claims, including the most recent one called Ida; a 47 million year old fossil of a baby ape! But we are fearfully and wonderfully made with the capacity and the desire to worship God; with the capacity to understand right from wrong; and with the capacity to feel guilt.
We finished the day as we began it by praying for some very special needs; David Nesbitt Jr; baby Olivia; Linda Maine; and the family of Jim McDonald who passed away on Saturday. There is no doubt that heaven and earth met as we worshiped; prayed and studied God's Word together.
Dr. Andrew Willis: Don't forget the Doc is with us on Tuesday night at 7.45. This will be an awesome event. Please plan to be with us.
Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.
Pastor Jack
