Weekly Contact

It is incredible to think that we are now into the month of June and are almost halfway through the year. I wonder how much you have made progress thus far during this year! Maybe now's the time to take stock as to whether or not you are further on or perhaps have gone backwards. Whatever it is, it is only you who can determine to make the kind of choices that will help you advance in the next few months so you can prepare to end the year better than you began it.

Sunday was a glorious day outside and inside. Some of us experienced both!

Sunday morning: I spoke on "Walking with Giants" #4. This was a follow on from last week's message when we looked at the Holy Spirit as the greatest giant in the life of the Christian. We saw that because the Holy Spirit lives within us we:

1) Live and walk in the Truth - a truth that brings real freedom
2) Don't need to shout at God - for he lives within us and walks with us
3) Don't need to scream the devil - but simply speak with the boldness and authority of Christ

I took the opportunity to introduce Pastor Peter Spasovski from Poland. He shared briefly through an interpreter and will be back with us to speak on Sunday morning 28 June.

Sunday night: Jonathan spoke on "Proven when tested". Based on James 1:2 where Paul said, "Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials of many kinds". The reason for testing is not to destroy, but to bring out the best. Testing is for quality, reliability and correction. The following are reasons why God tests us?

1. To develop perseverance
2. To develop maturity and completeness
3. To reveal what is in our hearts
4. To refine us as pure silver or pure gold
5. To make us more like Him

Virtuous Women: I want to encourage ALL the women of New Life City Church to get along to this event this coming Thursday night and to invite a friend to come along with you. The more you get out to this and other events that specifically planned with you in mind, the more you will feel connected to what happens within New Life.

Please do not be strangers to each other. That goes for all of us (sun or no sun!).

I look forward to seeing you next Sunday at 11 am and 6.45.

Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Pastor Jack
