The following was sent as a press release:
Next week, from Monday 14 to Saturday 19 September, Pastor Jack McKee will dedicate his Prayer Vigil to Iranian Christians Maryam Rustampoor (27) and Marzieh Amirizadeh (30) who are in prison in Iran and are suffering abuse and ill health simply because they will not deny their faith in Jesus Christ. There are very serious concerns for their safety.
Pastor Jack says, "If the Iranian regime was in power in Northern Ireland, Catholics and Protestants would be on the same side". He futher states that our own struggles as churches and community groups pale into insignificance when we think of what others outside our own little province are having to endure.
Pastor Jack will have a display with photographs of Maryam and Marzieh and details of their story alongside him during the Cross Vigil and is calling on people from all sides to spare a thought and to say a prayer for these two girls as they languish and suffer in an Iranian prison.
A Prayer Vigil has been organised outside the Iranian Embassy in London:
DATE: Saturday, 12 September 2009
TIME: 12.30pm 9.30pm
VENUE: Outside Iranian Embassy at 16 Princes Gate, London, SW7 1PT (nearest tube station South Kensington)
