Cross Vigil Day 24

DAY 24: Tuesday 6 October

It was a dry day, but a bit on the cold side; although nothing to complain about. In fact no matter how cold it gets, and even if it does rain we will not complain. What's the point!

Just a few highlights for the day: Raymond brought a welcome cup of coffee. It was warm and was in a nice little coloured paper cup, but then Anna came along with STARBUCKS in a real, and mega large, STARBUCKS MUG! Beat that one guys! HOWEVER, it is all equally appreciated.

Not too much by way of activity. Tommy Latimer came along to discuss Stadium Projects and to give me an update on the development of the Peace Pole etc. Mr. Indescribable, Kevin the Muffin Man, came by, not only to let me have a muffin, but to talk about some exciting fund raising ideas for the Peace Pole and for the building fund.

Our friend from San Francisco, Ward Stothers, stopped by for a chat and to give some moral support. As we were talking a man on his way through the gates to the Falls Road stopped for while. He explained about his several health problems and his alcohol problem. When I asked his name he said, "John"! At that moment I swung the cross around so he could see John 3:16. He immediately recognised it, but then said, "What does it mean?"

As I began to quote John 3:16 he quickly joined in showing he knew most of it, but unfortunately does not know the reality of it in his life. I spent time with him explaining the need to personally invite Christ into his life. We then prayed for him regarding his illnesses and his alcohol problem. Pray for John.
