Weekly Contact 19 October 2009

The Move is on:

What a way to go out of Top House! It started as it finished with awesome times of praise and worship and with a focus on the Word of God. A HUGE thanks and deep appreciation to everyone who has helped get us thus far and are just as determined and committed to get us even further. The move is on and we are so looking forward to the next chapter of New Life City Church; perhaps even the next book! If you can help out in any way during the week, please contact Gareth Spud Murphy.

Sunday Morning: The message I brought was "We're coming out". The main thrust of the message was that we are not coming out of one building to simply move into another building; we are not coming out of a small box to move into a bigger box; but we are coming out to move into our God given purpose; into our reason for existing. We're not even moving out to "move in" somewhere, but we are moving out to go out, because the world, the mission field, is out there; it is outside the church building.

Sunday night: After (or during) another amazing time of worship we prayed for several people for various reasons. We especially prayed for Leslie Hance and will continue to do so, both for her and for those who came forward. Thanks to those who came forward to share testimony: James Scott; Rev. Johnny Prentice; and Margaret McCurley. We heard from Chara about the name change from Virtuous Women to Glow and about the vision of Glow. We look forward to seeing this and other teams and ministries flourish in the coming months. I brought a brief message to encourage all present to "come with us" as we move forward as a church. Come with us mad we will do you good.

Sponsor Form. Thanks to those who gave something for Namumba's sponsorship for Bangladesh. If you would like to give something you can drop me an email so I can have your name added; or give it to Wendy Nutt on Sunday morning who is looking after this.

Cross Vigil: This is the last week. Thanks again for your prayers and to those who were able to stop by for a chat. As a church we will see the benefit of this in the coming weeks. Two young Catholic girls who climbed the Symbolic Bridge on Saturday were at church on Sunday night. They with others have said they are coming to New Life when we move to City Life Centre.

Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.
