David said, "I was glad when they said unto me "Let us GO to the house of the Lord".
Some people think they don't need to GO to the house of the Lord and some people are only glad after they have been, especially when it gave us what "WE wanted". But David's gladness was not just in being there or in getting from something from it, although were true and important, but his gladness was in going. I know that yesterday some were glad simply going to church, but I also know that many who were there were glad they were.
It was another great day. Thanks to everyone who made such; whether it was getting the building prepared; the chairs assembled; the programme facilitated; or that you spent time in prayer for it; and that you came along and participated.
Sunday morning: I spoke on "Accepting God's Agenda" #9 from Hosea chapters 8 & 9. The key verse 8v7 "They shall reap the whirlwind", showing that while God's ultimate purpose is to redeem and restore, yet there are consquences for those who turn from him and reject him. Israel rejected God for man made images and idols; Israel rejected God's appointed leaders for their own appointed ungodly leaders. SO WHAT'S CHANGED? The following sign appears in front of a church in the USA:
THE "LITE" CHURCH
We only ask for 24% Commitment
We only ask for a 7.5% tithe
Sermons last 15 minutes
Services last 45 minutes
We only have 8 commandments; your choice!
Everything you ever wanted in a church... and less
My serious concern is that this is the kind of church that many Christians want to belong to today and that some are happy to facilitate.
