The Anti Christ Revealed

If ever there was evidence that someone, i.e. "The Anti Christ", can become the world's hero and fool everyone, this is it. Check this out and be well informed. Jack

The following message is from Mark Crothers. If you or if you know anyone who would benefit from this please contact Mark directly. His email is below.

Jack,

Do u know of anyone in need of home furniture? Suite, tables etc? My parents next door neighbour has been put in a care home and is giving the stuff away.

If it was to be given to ppl in the comnmuity as an outreach I suggest it is given free. If someone from the church wants any thing I make the suggestion that they make a donation of any size to the building fund.
Let me kbow what you think and if u know any any one.

Mark

Invitation Cards

Just to remind everyone about the 10,000 invitation cards (minus what's been given out).

I have done my area to all my neighbours; walked the Shankill last Saturday to Tennant St and back down giving them out; put them into the houses in Agnes St and Crimea St; today I was on the Falls and gave them out in O'Neill St and Kilmore Square.

"Leading from the front".

Contact Colin Morrison for the cards.

Building Watch

A note to all men at New Life: We are looking for at least 7 men who will volunteer to help with "Building Watch". All we need is for one person to call down to the building around 10 pm to ensure that all lights are switched off; heat is off; doors are locked; and gates are locked. A short check list will be given to each person including a list of activities that take place each day and each night.

If you are able and willing to help please contact Colin Morrison immediately so he can coordinate this. He will let you know where to pick up the keys that should be left back immediately afterwards.

Seven men would cover seven nights.

Thanks.

Jack

From Mike DiSanza

The following is from friends of New Life, Mike & Ann DiSanza, Florida, regarding the son of their pastor, Kevin Ballard who is also a personal friend:

This is being sent to request prayer for young Britton Ballard age 14 who has been undergoing treatments for brain cancer.  He is the only son of our beloved pastor and dear friend.

Britton was diagnosed several months ago with a type of inoperable brain cancer.  They described it as little asteroids continually multiplying and shooting out all over his brain and traveling down his spine.

He has undergone radiation therapy along with chemo therapy and they were happy with the results saying first that they had gotten 85% of the cancer. However since it continues to reproduce, they want to now do some very agressive chemo therapy.  Tomorrow, Monday he is to undergo a two hour fasting MRI to actually determine the extent of the ongoing treatment.

We at our church are fasting and praying all week that God will halt the cancer and shrink it back to nothingness and that he won't have to go through this agressive chemo as it will make him terrably sick. The prognosis isn't good, but we serve a mighty God and He is able to heal Britton completely.  But unless the MRI shows a complete miracle they will continue with the chemo.  Therefore, please join us in prayer for a miracle for this young boy and also for his parents and grandparents as well.

Thank you
Love,
Mike and Ann
I have let them know that as a church we will be praying for Britton and the family.

Some are saying they cannot open the Newsletter. I think it's because Colin saves it as a .docx rather than a .doc. I think .docx is a newer version of windows!

Weekly Contact 24 Jan 2010

What a morning! It was "Great Craic" (Irish); it was "awesome" (American); it was "very nice" (English). Whatever way you want to say it, the fact is it was great to be in church today.

As usual we got right into an amazing time of corporate worship, followed by a feast served up from the Book of Mark by our guest speaker Carl Anderson. In his message he showed that as Mark was writing to a Roman audience he presented Jesus in his Gospel as a Warrior; a man of action. He went on to show that it is not enough to come to church and have a wonderful time and then go home again, but that as a church we need to be advancing. He spoke of Christ "the man of action" as the Deliverer who cast out demons; the Healer who healed disease and sickness; and the Giver of Life who raised several from the dead. He spoke of getting into the "Prayer Zone" and that from our prayer life we move out and advance the cause of Christ's Kingdom.

Carl gave several words of knowledge regarding illnesses or aches and pains. People responded to these and came forward for prayer as did several others. We concluded with a good time of ministry at the front. We continue to pray for healings.

Thanks again to everyone who came along.

Weekly Newsletter: Colin Morrison had printed the Weekly Newsletters and had left them at the door for distribution today, but they mysteriously disappeared! No one knows what happened them. So I have a attached a copy with this email. Check it out.

Highlight Bible Study and Prayer on Thursday Night at 7.45 pm. Great night last week; it'll be a great night this week. Don't miss it.

Next Sunday 11.30 am for Worship, Teaching and Communion.
7.00 pm Monthly Special with Brian Longridge.
Don't choose between them; just come out to both of them. They'll be great!!!
Next week we will be collecting the £25 towards Building Fund.
If you have not signed up for this and you would like to, please let me know.

Invitation Cards. We sang a great song today about the walls being broken down and the lost coming out of hiding. This is an opportunity to help break down those walls and to reach the lost where they are. There were two people in church as a direct result of us being on the streets yesterday. So come on; let's make it known that New Life is here for the people across the city. Take enough cards to do your street or your area. See Colin. Thanks.

Email Connect Group. One more push for this. Several people have signed up from last week. If you were not one of those, please sign up now by simply responding to this email with the words "Count me in". Go ahead and do it now! Deborah McCurley will be the "Moderator" of this Connect Group. She will help give it direction and will take it forward with your support.

Church Cleaning. Thanks to those who signed up since last week to help. Much appreciated.

Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Some Updates

Davy Nesbitt senior (father of Davy; Ann & Jacqueline) is hospital. He is seriously ill. He went through an operation last night and might have to go through another one. Please keep him and the family in your prayers.

Eileen Charnock is doing much better. She is hoping to be out of hospital soon.

Megan is in the Mater with heart palpitations. Jonathan is calling to see her today.

Prayer & Bible Study. We had a good time of prayer last night when we prayed for the church and for needs within the church. We also prayed for churches within the Shankill and for other situations. Colin Morrison brought a good word on the attitudes of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector in Luke 18: 9-14. It led to a lively discussion on the rights and wrongs of judging people and other churches.

Invitation Cards. A few people have contacted Colin regarding these cards. There are 10,000 that need to be got out there. Please contact Colin if you can help distribute them around your area and further afield. If anyone can make it, Colin will be giving some out to passers by on the Shankill tomorrow. You can meet him at 10.30 am sharp at the corner of Shankill and Northumberland Street.

Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Specials

Just a reminder of two very special meetings at New Life City Church (although they are ALL special!)

This coming Sunday 24 January 11.30 am

Our guest speaker will be Carl Anderson, Born to Blaze Ministries, Nebraska USA. This is what J. John says about Carl:

"Carl Anderson is a passionate prophetic evangelist with a concern to see a new generation to rise up and fulfil their destiny in Christ. His book, Changing of the Guard, will help all those who want to understand God's generational purposes and are prepared to enter into the purposes of God for their life. I highly recommend it."

It would be great to see you there.

Next Sunday 31 January we will have our Morning Service at 11.30 am but on Sunday night at 7 pm our guest speaker will be Brian Longridge

Reaching the hurting is what has compelled him for the last 15 years. He and his wife, Mirte, (who is also a musician) from Holland, have worked in Amsterdam with drug addicts and street people, and for 5 years in India with people who have leprosy. They are currently working in the Philippines. They are also both trained counselors, and are momentarily setting up a 24/7 house of Prayer as well as still working with people who have leprosy. They strangely enough found joy in having their honeymoon inside a leprosy camp on top of a mountain in Indonesia, and lived how they lived for two months with them. Find out more about Brian by Google: Brian Longridge, Phillippines.

Brian was a real blessing to us about 18 months ago when he sang and played the keyboard and ministered God's Word. We are looking forward to his visit next Sunday night. Brian is from the Shankill community. He is pastoring a church in the Philippines where most of his congregation are lepers. This will be a night to remember.

Postcards

Colin Morrison has 10,000 Postcards promoting New Life City Church. It would be great to get these out as soon as possible. If you can help - please contact Colin at colinmorrison56@googlemail.com

Colin will take a list of all the streets that have been done. So if you can help let him know where you plan to go and then stick to those streets. If you have any left over, let Colin know if you are going to give them out in other streets before you do so; just in case they have already been done and so he can note them down.

Why not plan to give them out around your area. I am going to do Clareglen and Squires Hill before this weekend.

Another way to give them out is to shoppers on the Shankill and the Falls.

They would also be great to use as special invitations to your friends at work, school, neighbours and family.

Let's make this a great year for evangelism. Don't wait until you hear music coming from heaven or until you see the sky lighting up like a Christmas tree; let's not even take a day or two to pray about it; let's just do it!

This is a great way to be a God influence.

Weekly Contact 18 Jan 2010

Another great day at New Life City Church! The worship was awesome. I felt that this was perhaps the first day since our move that we really felt at home with our worship. It was great to stand alongside others who are like minded and to immediately enter in. Thanks again to our Worship Team and to those at the desk controlling the sound, the lights and the projectors etc.

The message I brought was the 3rd in a series and was entitled "Getting into the Zone of Servanthood". I began by making the point that many Christians think that God saved them simply to take them to heaven when they die, but that this is such a shallow understanding of what it means to be a Christian, otherwise God would just beam us up the moment we get saved! The fact is we are saved to serve.

The first requirement in following Jesus is one of self-denial, not self-promotion. It's taking up our cross and being willing to give and to bless others, even to the point of sacrifice. It's being willing to step into the Zone of Servanthood. It's not about lordship; it's not even about leadership in terms of being "the boss", but it's about serving; serving God; serving vision; serving the church, and serving others.

Moses took off his shoes, not only because it was Holy Ground, but to acknowledge he was in the presence of someone greater than himself. It was a sign of respect and of his willingness to submit and surrender to God. It was the moment he stepped into the Zone of Servanthood. We looked at Boaz's cousin and then finished by looking at Jesus who came not to be served, but to serve; who took on himself the form of a servant and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Offering for Haiti. We gave everyone an opportunity to contribute to help support the ongoing relief efforts in Haiti. We took up a second offering and raised £370. Every other Elim church in the UK and Ireland has done the same. All of the money raised will go directly to an organisation working on the ground in Haiti. It's not too late to give.

Weekly Newsletter. If you were at church you would have got one of these, but I have attached the latest one with this email so you can see what's happening during the week etc. Thanks to Colin Morrison for doing this Newsletter.

Bible Study & Prayer. From next Thursday night we will be having "Bible Study and Prayer" in the lounge upstairs. Each week we will have someone different share a 20 minute Bible Study, then perhaps a short discussion and then pray for around 40 minutes or so.

Email Connect Group. Several people signed up for this. We want to get going very soon. Please let me know again, even if you have already done so, that you want to be part of this Connect Group by simply responding to this email with the words "Count me in". Go ahead and do it now! Deborah McCurley will be the "Moderator" of this Connect Group. She will help give it direction and will take it forward with your support.

Volunteer Cleaners Needed. If you can give sometime to help clean the church on a rota basis, please contact Gareth at Spudmurphy123@btinternet.com

Thanks again for your support and for all you do for God via New Life City Church. I look forward to seeing you next Sunday.

Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Haiti Appeal

No doubt we have all been moved by the disaster in Haiti and we've all wondered what we can do to help. On Sunday morning we will take up an offering at the end of the service and will send it through the Elim Relief Association to an organisation that is working directly in Haiti. Every Elim Church across the UK and Ireland will be doing this.

WWJD?

This is one of those ways we can be a God influence.

Prayer Last night

I do not normally send a report on the Thursday night Prayer Time, but I do want you all to know that the church was well prayed for as were many individual needs. There was a good turn out and a real burden in prayer. So please know, your name might not have been mentioned, but, then again, it might have been! Either way, you were prayed for, as were unsaved loved ones and family members who are ill. Thanks to those who pray either on your own or with others, and for those who get together on Mondays.

From next Thursday night it will be "Bible Study and Prayer" in the lounge upstairs. Each week we will have someone different share a 20 minute Bible Study, then perhaps a short discussion and then pray for around 40 minutes or so.

Have a great weekend.

Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Mark's friend

Bit of a change on my last email:

Mark's friend's name is Robert. It was Robert's "father" who died yesterday, and then his mother died today.

What a tragedy! Mark has asked we pray for Robert and the family.

Prayer Need

Mark Crothers has emailed me regarding a friend who died yesterday and whose mother collapsed and died today. I don't know what kind of day you've had, but that's a bad day for any family!

I don't have the name, but Mark has asked prayer for this family.

Thanks.

Weekly Contact 11 Jan 2010

Things are continuing to look up as we steadily move into 2010. It's always encouraging to see the regulars turning up week after week and is likewise encouraging to see "new" faces. We hope this will be the case each week and that step by step we will see New Life City Church take its place as a significant church fellowship within the city. It was good to see Anna back from Canada and to see James & Julie out with Baby Benjamin.

Thanks again to our Worship Team for stepping up to the mark as always and for helping to prepare our hearts as we turned to the Word of God. The message on Sunday was Part II of last week's message as follows:

The message was entitled "Getting into the Zone of Spiritual Maturity". The key verses for the message were Jer. 17:7-8. We saw that one of the meanings of the word "mature" is "complete". The main thrust of the message was that the person who is in the Zone of Spiritual Maturity is one who trusts in God and not in men, and is one who remains complete regardless of the circumstances.

Once again I talked about the need to encourage each other, but I also made the point that there needs to come a time when you are no longer "dependent" on the encouragement of others. We saw that when Paul became a Christian he needed to be encouraged. He did not get it from the church leaders in Jerusalem, but he got it from Barnabas. However, Paul did not go through the rest of his life depending on Barnabas for encouragement. He never stayed a baby Christian (! Cor.13:11). He got into the Zone of Spiritual Maturity so that it did not matter what the devil threw at him. And just like Paul, we all need to get into the Zone of Spiritual Maturity so that we do not become dependent on the phone call, or the text message, or the Facebook comment or even the Pastoral visit.

I finished by making the point that during 2010 we are looking for Growth in four areas as follows:

Growth in the numbers attending New Life City Church
Growth in the numbers becoming Christians
Growth in the numbers of backsliders becoming Christians
Growth in the spiritual maturity of all believers

GLOW: Great reports about last night from several people who were there. Well done ladies; keep it going. Or as John Cartmill would say "Keep 'er lit!"

This coming week: Hopefully the weather will not be too severe.
All the main activities will be on including Revolution and JC's.
The Thursday Night Prayer Meeting is at 7.45.
We will take sometime at the start for a short Bible Study.

Wednesday Night 6.30. Gordie is looking for help to link the chairs together. Come along with screwdrivers (not drinks, but "star" screwdrivers!) and/or drills with screwdriver heads. We plan to put the Liverpool v Reading match on upstairs for the Reading fans. Bring along some drinks and treats.

Next Sunday: 11.30 Morning Service. It's been good to see "new people" joining with us. This is your opportunity to invite someone along. Remember what I said last week, "If we all reach one person and bring that one person to church during 2010 we will double our numbers in one year!.

Don't forget the 3rd Sunday morning of each month, which is this coming Sunday, is our Special Building Fund Offering. Please pray about this and let's make these offerings truly special. Thanks again to those who give an extra £25 per month (some give more) to help cover the loan. This is paid directly into the bank by DD or is handed to me or Gareth on the last Sunday of each month. If you are not one of those who give in this way and you would like to be, please let me know.

FIST: Sunday night for all men.

Continue to pray for the church and for each other. Why not think of someone right now who might well appreciate a little encouragement and drop them a text or an email and let them know you just want to encourage them.

Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Sunday Service

Looking forward to seeing you all at church on Sunday at 11.30. Contractors have been in during the week working on the entire heating system. I can now tell you that regardless of the cold outside we'll be warm inside.

I've attached an update from Johnny & Heather Prentice in India.

JC Kids

Just to let you all know that due to the cold weather conditions there will be no JC's Kids on Friday night.

Prayer Meeting Cancelled

Hi everyone,

Due to the ongoing weather conditions and forecast for tonight there will be no Prayer Meeting tonight. This does not mean there will be no prayer; it just means we are not getting together to pray. If you are close by someone who normally comes out on Thursday nights and you can get together for a little while, then why not do that.

However, continue to pray for James Scott's family, giving thanks for baby Benjamin and praying for James' father whose own father passed away at the beginning of the week. Continue to pray for Colleen's father Marty; Nicola's brother Michael; Violet's son Colin; Eileen's husband Terry, and of course for Eileen herself. Pray also for Kerry Forsythe's grandfather who is suffering serious affects of Alzheimer's. These are only some of the needs. Some are a little more private, which is why it is important that we pray for one another.

Hope to see you all on Sunday at 11.30 am. Don't forget GLOW for all you ladies is on this Sunday night and JC's is back again this Friday night.

God Bless.

Jack

Joy and Sadness

Congratulations to Julie and James Scott. Julie gave birth to a whopping 9lb 2oz baby boy called Benjamin (well, he wasn't called Benjamin until he was born, Julie and James called him that). But well done Julie and James!!! We continue to remember James' father whose father passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning; a mixture of sadness and joy.

Colleen's dad has been sent home from hospital. He is very ill. Please pray for Colleen and her mother at this very difficult time.

Pray also for Nicola Anderson's brother who was in a serious car accident before Christmas. He was crashed into by a speeding car. Three people in the other car died. Nicola's brother, Michael survived, but severely traumatised and is not sleeping etc due to depression and feelings of guilt. Please pray for Michael.

Thanks.

Couples Weekend

Thank God for those who are enough in the zone that they recognise my mistakes and willing to point them out.

Gemma has pointed out that the Couple's Weekend is in February and she is so right. I don't know why I wrote March when I know it's the Valentine's Weekend! Anyway the dates are 12 and 13 February.

Thanks Gemma.

Weekly Contact 4 January 2010

This is the first Weekly Contact for 2010 (that's two thousand and ten!). I want to wish you all a Happy New Year.

Thanks again to everyone for getting out to church for our first service of the year. There was an excellent turn out, although we did miss a few regulars like Craig McCurley who was ill; Anna who is still in Canada, and Colin and Carole who are sunning themselves in Madeira. We look forward to them all being back with us this coming Sunday. If you were not with us, and New Life is your church, please examine why you were not with us. If you are ill or you're going through some stuff and you need support, please let me know.

Sunday Morning Message: "Getting into the Zone". After a wonderful time of worship we were ready to hear and receive the Word of God. I began by making the points that the reason why too many Christians are out of touch with the plan and the purposes of God is because they fail to get into the zone - that is they fail to align themselves or properly position themselves in relation to God's plan and purposes; the reason why too many Christians miss out on so much of what God has planned for them personally is because they fail to get into the zone; the reason why too many Christians struggle from one week to the next is because they fail to get into the zone.

The whole point of the message was to encourage people to properly position and align themselves to God's plan and purpose for their personal lives and for the life of the church with the understanding that God has said, "I know the plans I have for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future" (Jer 29:11). We saw that the real evidence of being in the zone is that we are fishers of men and worshippers of God. We finished the service with many of those present coming forward to receive communion at the front; staying there and getting into the zone of worship.

Prayer Time: Thursday night at 7.45. This will be the first Thursday night prayer meeting of 2010. So again I invite you to join with us to pray. We will spend a few moments studying a portion of God's Word; perhaps chat for a little while and then pray.

Next Sunday 11.30 am back again for another great time of worship and teaching. Let's also believe God for salvation at these Sunday morning services. Why not think of someone to invite. Pray for the opportunity to invite them along; look for it and take it when it comes.

GLOW. Although last Sunday was the first Sunday in the month GLOW decided to put off its meeting until this coming Sunday evening. So once again ladies, please take this opportunity to get along and connect with others. This is also another opportunity to invite your friends.

Couple's Weekend. 12 and 13 March. If you want more information on this and if you would want to go along please contact Gareth Murphy ASAP at Spudmurphy123@btinternet.com

Prayer Needs. Several people within the church and relatives continue to need our prayers. One special need is for James Scott's family. James' grandfather (his father's father) passed away during night. James' father was actually making his way back to Scotland when he received the news that his father had passed away. Our prayers are with them at this time of loss and sadness.

And let's remember for 2010: Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.
