The Easter WOW may have been cancelled, but we're still Marching on! Today is the first day of March and yesterday was an amazing finish to February. What a day at church! Everything about it was just God. Yesterday was "It". It was it because we were fully lit! It was "It" because the presence of God was so real. It was "It" because our guest speaker, John Edwards, spoke right into the heart of our church and brought such a challenge and blessing to all of us.
The Morning Service: John Edwards spoke from 1 Chron. 17 making the following points:
David had been called and anointed, but not recognised. For a time had to learn the secrets of the Kingdom while dying to self and to any attempt of self elevation. During this time he learned to not look to men to make things happen for him; nor did he try to manipulate the circumstances, but he learned to trust God to work things out in His way and in His time.
David's anointing was that of a pioneer; someone who blazed the trail. Although David was in his palace as King, he refused to settle while the presence of God (the Ark of the Covenant) remained in a tent. His desire was to build a place where the presence of God could dwell permanently. Nathan the prophet told David to do what was in his heart, but then God instructed Nathan to tell David that he was not be the one who would build the House of the Lord, but that his offspring would build it.
David knew that God knew him. Others failed to appreciate all that David had come through; they had failed to understand that David was where he was because of his obedience to God and of his willingness to fight off bears and lions, and of course Goliath; they failed to see the bigger picture, but God knew him.
God would build a house for David. Others, through jealousy and lack of understanding, will seek to rob and steal his blessing, but God will build David's house, and would do so that His name (God's name) would be great.
The Evening Service: After another amazing time of worship, which could have gone on all night, John Edwards shared his testimony. He almost did go on all night! I think he spoke for 1 hour and 40 minutes! But hey, who cared? Although at this point I want to thank those who looked after the crèche (I think it was Maureen and Gemma). Not only did they miss out, but they were in the crèche for 21/2 hours! Not much consolation, but THANKS! After the gold medal award winning marathon testimony John invited people to the front for prayer. Several came forward. One woman committed her life to Christ. Please pray for her.
This will remain as one of the most memorable days in the life of our church. The attendance was awesome, as was the worship and the ministry. However, John Edwards is on a plane and away back to Bradford, but we are still here! Yesterday in consigned to the history books, but today is a new day with new opportunities. What will you do with this day?
Bible Study & Prayer. Thursday night at 7.45pm we will be having "Bible Study and Prayer" in the lounge upstairs. We will have short Bible Study, then perhaps a short discussion and then pray for around 40 - 50 minutes. Last week we looked at Isaac re-digging the wells of his father Abraham, until he finally began to dig his own wells.
Next Sunday Night at 7pm - GLOW will meet upstairs. All ladies are welcome to come along and enjoy a great time of fellowship. Bring your friends and families.
PRAYER: Continue to pray for Olive Long as she goes through surgery this week. Continue to pray also for Billy Haddock and Winnie and the family. Billy deeply appreciates all the contacts from the church during the past week. There are others who attend church regularly, and others who cannot attend as much as they would like to due to ongoing illness, who continue to need our prayers. Please pray one for another and continue to encourage one another.
Next Sunday Morning we are back in the Zone! Come along and find out what specific zone we should be getting into this week.
Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.
