Thank God for another great time at church yesterday and thank you all for your ongoing and constant support. The highlight of the day was the fact that two people committed their lives to Christ. One was a girl from the Falls community whom Jonathan had visited in hospital some time ago, but she finally made it to church; the other was Raymond Barrett's wife Lisa. Thank God again that salvation came to these two people, one from the Falls and one from the Shankill.
Another interesting point to note is that Stephen Robinson; many of you know Stephen with the very serious alcohol addiction; well, Stephen decided to come to church yesterday morning to hear John Edwards. Not only was he a week late, but he walked past the building and onto the Falls Road where he asked a man where New Life Church was. The man on the Falls directed him back across the gates to where the church is! Keep Stephen in your prayers.
Getting into the Zone of Dreams: This was the 6th message in the "Getting into the Zone" series. Based on Acts 2:17, the main points of the message were:
God-given dreams are filled with hope and purpose
They motivate us into action and cause us to take steps in the belief that one day the dream will be fulfilled
They do not end in the morning, but continue through life.
They come with an unshakable desire that God puts within us (Psalm 34:4)
I went on to make the point that, whatever the dream, each person needs to get into the zone of that dream. You begin by making sure you are truly hearing from God so that you are not following you own desires, but God-given desires, and that you are not following the words of men, but rather you are following the Word of God. But then how do you know it's God? You do so by the following:
God will put something in your heart
God will confirm this by his Word (reading; sermon; prophecy etc)
God will create the circumstances
God will open the door
GLOW: met last night. While I was not there, Kathleen brought back an excellent report. On behalf of the GLOW Team I would like to thank everyone who got along last night and thank those who shared. Well done GLOW.
Prayer: We spent time praying for some very special needs. These were: Heather Prentice in Antrim Hospital; Billy Haddock who is in Scotland this week and needs our prayers; William Rea's friend whose mother died suddenly on Saturday and for baby Benjamin who is having a scan on Tuesday. Continue to pray for them and for others like Debbie Mogey who's been in hospital (it was great to see her in church yesterday) and Margaret Boyd and others who continue to suffer with illnesses that keep them from church.
This Thursday night there will be no prayer meeting as the women are having some kind of "Beauty Night". It will be in the MAIN HALL with tables set up for FOOD! It starts at 7 pm. Go for it ladies!
Next Sunday is Mother's Day. Although we do have a Male Speaker, Mark Pugh, Director of Serious for God, GLOW will be doing some things. So come along get into the zone on Mother's Day.
Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.
Pastor Jack
