In Matthew 18:20 Jesus said, "Where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them". Well, if that's for two or three, what about when 25 come together in his name? Last night 25 gathered from 10 pm to 12 midnight to pray, and man did we pray! We might have been from various cultures and backgrounds, whether Polish or African, or from this side of the wall or the other side, yet there was amazing unity in our fellowship and prayers. Some people cried out to God, while others prayed out softly, but just as sincerely. Some shared during the course of the night to encourage and to bring focus.
We prayed for the Leadership of New Life; we prayed for the church, for church needs and for the services on Sunday; we prayed for the community (young Andrew Higgins prayed a great prayer for the Falls and for his family); we prayed for unsaved loved ones; we prayed for marriages and for personal and church finances; and we prayed for specific needs. I presented a short message at the start, "When you are going through a storm, pray, but keep on rowing". During the course of the night the Lord showed a huge blanket over the church. This blanket was large enough to cover the entire building and therefore everyone in it. The Holy Spirit used this to show that God has provided a covering for the church; that New Life is under the covering provided; that everyone in the church is under this covering; and that even those in our families are under this same covering; they might not be Christian, but our covering is our blessing and those in our families benefit from our blessings and our covering.
Thanks for your prayers for our Leadership Team. We had a meeting today. It was very positive as we discussed the Re-launch of our Vision, which will take place on Sunday 12 September; we also discussed some very positive changes and the development of ministries and of people. Believe me, these are exciting days. The fire is still burning; the rain is still falling; and the wind is still blowing. We're praying, and we're still rowing! (Anna! You can use that last line for a song!).
See you all tomorrow 11.30 am and 7 pm. This is not to give you a choice between these two events, but the choice to come out to both. They are two entirely different events, but the same heart and the same Spirit. Come on, let's row together (as in row the boat, not argue!).
Jack
