Weekend at New Life

New Year's Eve. Over the years we have always put on something during New Year's Eve, but this year we decided not to do so. The main reason behind this is that many of our people have young families and are unable to attend or support such a late event. This in no way should be seen as a reduced desire on our part for the blessing of God to be upon us as individuals, families and as a church. As a Leadership we pray God's blessing upon you all as we move from 2010 to 2011 and throughout the New Year. May God grant us a year filled with His Good Favour.

ENTHUSE. Saturday 1st January 7.30 pm. This will be the first event at New Life in 2011 and will be the first of many more of the same monthly event, being the first Saturday of each month. It will be a night of praise and worship. We have invited others to join with us from other churches and are hopeful of a good turn out. For the purpose of covering the cost for our guests from England we are charging £5 admission. Please plan to attend and support this event.

Sunday 2nd January 11.00 am. Tea & Coffee and Madeira cake will be served free of charge in the foyer at 11 am sharp. Please get along early and join with us and mingle before the service commences at 11.30 am. After our initial worship and praise I will speak on "What's on your radar for 2011?". Let's make this, with God's help and anointing, a fitting start to a New Year and let's embrace together, and work towards, the best that God has for us.

To this end I look forward to your fellowship over this very important weekend.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all.

Just a thought and a little prayer go a long way.

Awesome Night

If I was allowed to use the word "flipping", I would say we had a Flipping great night at our Christmas Dinner, but I'm a pastor, so I can't say flipping! So I'll just say we had an awesome night. All the kids who sang and danced were amazing, and everyone who took part in the New Life Strictly deserved first place, especially me and Kathleen!

Weekly Contact 20 December 2010

Forgive me for my moment of Pride! I have to say that as Pastor of New Life City Church I am so proud of our church and of all who help make it what it is. Sunday was another great day, from the word that Jonathan brought in the morning entitled "What will you bring?" to JC's Nativity presentation at night. It was great to see and hear all the kids, both big and small. Just a pity about the appearance of Father Ted, Duncan and a fictitious Pastor Jack! But well done all JC's Leaders and helpers. All your hard work really paid off.

Christmas Dinner. Tuesday night at 7 pm SHARP!!! Thanks to Lesley Hance for taking care of the bookings, money and menu etc. I don't how many have booked, but I know there will be quite a crowd! Unfortunately not everyone booked in time!

Thursday Prayer and Bible Study: Please note this is not on this week.

Boxing Day Service. Please note this will start at 11 am and will end around 12 noon. We are looking forward to a great end to 2010 as this will be the last service of the year. Let's end as we mean to start and as we mean to go on in 2011.

ENTHUSE: This will be our first event in 2011 and will be on Saturday 1st January at 7 pm. In order to cover the cost of bringing Chip and the band from England (flights, hotel etc) we are charging £5 admission. Regardless of the many difficulties in 2010, lets embrace 2011 in faith and with confidence knowing that God is still in control.

Thanks again to everyone who stands with us and who works hard for the development and advancement of New Life City Church. We deeply appreciate your efforts whether it's making teas and coffees or providing food; or cleaning the church; or looking after children in the crèche or at JC's etc etc. Whatever you do is deeply appreciated.

Keep praying for and encouraging each other. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Snow Go Area

Thanks to all the lads who came out to help shovel snow away from the church car park today. With the deep freeze tonight, it might be like an ice rink in the morning!

At least we were there and at least we tried. I was impressed by Melvyn from the Philippines helping out. This was more strange given the fact they do not get snow in the Philippines, but there he with shovel in hand. Young Andy Higgins got off side, after we had finished of course, as soon as he heard we were not getting free fish suppers! Big Colin made us tea and coffee upstairs. The banter was great, especially as we spent time trying to see hidden faces in Mike DeLorenzo's paintings! I think we found two!

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

Trailer and Tow Bar

Does anyone have a trailer and would be able to get sand/grit for Saturday?

I need to know as Wilbur can get one from work for £15 for the day, but I need to know if someone has a tow bar and can get sand/grit!

Jack

THIS WEEKEND

Don't know what it's like where you are, but the snow is so white and so cold where we are!

Okay, here's the deal for the weekend:

Sat. 2 pm - 3 pm. Calling all abled body people to meet at the church with spades and shovels at the ready to clear the car park for Sunday. Bring spades and shovels. Why not stop on your way and pick up a bucket ot two of grit at some of the yellow bins! If anyone has a trailer, can you call to the place at the bottom end of Woodvale Avenue and get a load of sand? For those who cannot make it for 2 pm, why not get there when you can and do something! We don't want to rob anyone of the opportunity to be blessed by being a blessing!

Sun. 11.30 am. Don't let the snow be an excuse to stay in bed and miss church. Too many people have come up with feeble excuses for missing church. This is the last Sunday before Christmas, let's make it a great one.

Sun. 7 pm. Sunday Night Special with JC KIDs doing the Nativity in song and act. The kids and leaders have put a lot of effort into this. Please get along and support them. Sunday is going to be another great day.

Weekly Contact 13 December 2010

Was that another awesome morning at New Life last Sunday, or was that just another awesome morning? Either way, it was just awesome. The presence of God; the anointing of His Holy Spirit on the worship and the word was tangible.

CU@theMANGER Thanks to everyone who took part. A special thanks to our 3 Wise Women from the East: Rose Edmunds, Natalia Spasowska, and Ana Liza Hipolito. You girls were just great! We should have had you sitting on motor bikes!

If any of you want to see the audio visual again, or let your friends see it, you can get it at

Thanks to Tommy, Shughie and Colin for helping set the stage with the "garage look". I know it looked a mess, but the stable where Jesus was born was no picnic area!

The purpose behind CU@theMANGER was to promote the true meaning of Christmas. At one time Christmas was the "bestest" time of the year enjoyed by everyone, but in today's world it is under sustained and blatant attack from atheism, secularism, materialism and many other 'isms! But another thing that puts Christmas under pressure is Christian apathy. The fact is, if we as Christians do not preserve and promote the true meaning of Christmas, no one else will!

This is not a call for us to be killjoys or Mr. Scrooge's, but a call for all Christians to clearly declare that Jesus is not only the reason for this season, but He's the reason for every season. He's the reason for life, because He is the giver of life. He should therefore be central to our Christmas celebrations. If He's not, then we might as well join with the above 'isms and call it Happy Holidays!

I did not get to my last point. In fact I never even mentioned it, which was that Patrick never thought of himself as St. Patrick, but he wrote these words when facing persecution and possible death, "Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me". These were the inspiration behind the song "God in my living". Although I never got to making this point, the Worship Team got up and sang "God in my living"! Now how in tune was that!

moMENtum, our men's ministry, met on Sunday night. Once again we were encouraged by each others company and fellowship and were blessed again by Craig Groeschel as he finished the series on "Forgotten Virtues". The four things he talked about in this series were, the forgotten virtues of HONOUR, LOYALTY, INTEGRITY, and (last night) GRATITUDE. Amazing teaching. You can see these again at http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=craig+groeschel%2C+forgotten+virtues&aq=f

THIS WEEK: we once again have a full programme. There's lot's to do! People to meet! Fellowship, teaching, and encouragement etc. Including Life Groups in various homes and in FEED Cafe (email Gareth for details at Spudmurphy123@btinternet.com ); and prayer times Monday 11 am Thursday 7.45 pm; Saturday 10.30 am. If you've never yet been to a Life Group or a Prayer Time, why not plan to get along to one this week. You do not need to be alone; these are opportunities to get out and connect with others.

CHRISTMAS DINNER: Tuesday 21st December. £15 per adult; £6.95 per 'dinner eating' child! You need to let Lesley Hance know ASAP if you are going. Email her at paul.hance@btinternet.com and let her have £5 deposit when you see her at church. Thanks for doing this Lesley.

BOXING DAY: Our Sunday morning service will commence at 11 am and finish around 12 noon - 12.15. Let's get out and have some fellowship and fun together the day after Christmas. Kids, and Big Kids, can bring some of their toys.

Thanks.

Keep praying for and encouraging each other.

Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Maxine's dad

I started the day in prison visiting a young man who is doing Life, with a minimum of 16 years for a murder he did not commit. The guy is totally innocent. I have been in touch with several politicians about him, but with very little response. Next week I will be going public on this. Please pray for Mark

I finished the day at the Intensive Care Unit. Maxine's father was rushed in today with an aneurism. He has been given little chance of pulling through. Maxine knows how serious her father is. She is bearing up really well. Please pray for Maxine and for her father Sandy, her mum and family. Kathleen and I were able to get into ITC to pray with him.

Julie Scott has asked for prayer for a friend of hers who has just been told that her six year son has a brain tumor and has to go through surgery on Tuesday.

I just got a phone call from Ann Graham. Jordan is in the Haven and is determined to break his addictions. He is already facing side effects of being sick etc. Let's pray him through this.

Matt. 25.36. Jesus said, "I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me".

LIVERPOOL MATCH

As you all know, the door to our home has always been open, especially when there's a Liverpool match on! Well, for those interested, there is a Liverpool match on tonight. Kicks off at 8 pm.

Make sure you park the car as much off the street as you can because of the snow. Don't park immediately out the front as you would force all cars out to the centre of the road.

Weekly Contact 6 December 2010

Last weekend showed again how serious we are as a Leadership about our recent Twenty10Renew, when together as a church we reaffirmed our vision and we launched a 5 Year Strategy. The visit and the ministry of Paul James, along with the recent visit of Jarrod Cooper, is part of our response and our commitment, as a Leadership, to the vision of New Life City Church and to the 5 Year Strategy we placed before you.

Thanks to all who continue to stand together, and to even at times help row someone else's boat in the midst of storms. For what does it matter about vision and strategy and if we cannot support and encourage each other? Some of you have discovered when you reach out with an offer to help, that sometimes that offer is either refused or ignored; yet that should not stop you from caring and should not prevent you from remaining open to serve and willing to help.

PAUL JAMES. I will not detail all of Paul's messages, for he had much to say, and besides, the laugher is difficult to replicate or to translate in writing! On Saturday morning he spoke on Evangelism as the Mission of the Church. The main points were: 1) The Mission; 2) The Message; 3) The Means; 4) The Methods. Some of his main comments were that God has chosen us and anointed us to be His everyday means of proclaiming the Gospel of Christ in our everyday lives; we should show the heart of Jesus by touching the wounded with the same care shown by Christ; we should live a life that reflects Christ; open minded people can spot techniques, prejudice and fraud. One of the comments that spoke to me most was, "anyone can scatter; not many can gather", and I respond by saying, "God make me a gatherer; not a scatterer".

Paul's messages on Sunday were "The Power of the Cross to Deliver us from Sin" and "The Power of the Cross to Deliver us from Self Life". In these messages he focused much on the subject of FREEDOM. To put his messages in a nut shell he was saying that our freedom is not just so we can dance and sing in church, but so we can take back our lives on a daily basis by having the power to say "No" and to make right choices when we are away from church. "It was for freedom that Christ has set us free". The whole weekend was recorded. We will make these available soon.

THIS WEEK: we once again have a full programme. Lot's to do!

We deeply appreciate your efforts whether it's making teas and coffees or providing food; or cleaning the church; or looking after children in the crèche or at JC's etc etc. Whatever you do is deeply appreciated. Just a comment

I will send my weekly contact soon, but I want to send this email early to say we had an amazing weekend with Paul James. This past weekend, along with the Jarrod Cooper wekend recently, is part of our commitment as a Leadership to you, the church, following our Twenty10Renew.

As a Leadership we were serious about Twenty10Renew. We were serious about our commitment to our vision; we were serious about our commitment to the Covenant we signed our names to on the wall; and we are still serious about these things.

We had a really good turn out at all services over the weekend. Paul James was amazing. So I want to thank all who supported this weekend.

Evangelism at New Life

REMINDER:
In keeping with Twenty10Renew and our 5 Year Strategy we have organised this coming weekend as a weekend of evangelism training and outreach.

We've already had a great weekend focused on worship with guest speaker Jarrod Cooper, our next focus will be evangelism, because Worship and Evangelism are close partners; one is God-ward and one is man-ward, but you cannot be truly God-ward if you're not truly man-ward. This is not about giving out Gospel tracts, but is about motivating the church to touch the world (evangelism), besides touching heaven (worship).

Our guest speaker is Paul James. Details as follows:

Saturday 4 December 10 am-12 Evangelism for the Church (for everyone, as stated above).
Sunday    5 December 11.30 am Worship & Teaching and 7.00 pm Sunday Night Monthly Special. Paul will be praying for the sick and will speak prohetically into people lives.

Paul moves in a powerful prophetic anointing which will challenge you to the core of your spirit and bring about eternal change as you come under the Word of God.

He has recorded two music albums: Come Into My Life and Come Holy Spirit.

GLOW Dinner

Congratulations to our New Life GLOW Team for such a great night last night.
Some people do not think it is possible for us to put on such a night of
excellence, but you proved them so wrong, not that we need to prove
ourselves to anyone! Well done to Chara & Elizabeth and everyone on the
GLOW.

Thanks to John C, Murph, Adder, Big Colin, and Andrew, to name but few, for
serving the tables. You all looked great and you all did a great job; the
women were all singing your praises, and for also getting involved with the
dancing. Thanks to Tommy Latimer and the team of helpers for setting tables
and chairs out and for getting everything ready.

A huge thanks to Maxine and Kevin and team for fabulous food. You guys did
an amazing job. Over 100 women said so. The Country Band were excellent.
Everyone loved them. I think we'll book them as our main guests for our next
COPE Concert.

This was an amazing outreach and was such a witness for the church as there
many non-Christians who all said they loved the night. When Paul said we
should be all things to all men, I think he was also including the women and
was saying we should be all things to all women, that by all means we would
save some.

So, a big pat on the back ladies. You make me proud to be your pastor (as do
the men!).

Thanks to everyone who played their part. You proved again that we can work
well together, if we have a mind to do so.

Jack

HOPE Team Hampers

HAMPERS:

The HOPE Team is still looking for suggestions of families who could do with a Hamper this Christmas. Please note, these are for families in need. We want to be a blessing to others. This is one way of doing so. God's love is not only expressed in giving out tracts, in preaching and in sharing testimonies, but in being practical.

Email Gemma with suggestions revolutionyc@btinternet.com Please note these are only suggestions. Not everyone will get a Hamper. It would help if you could give some brief details about the family (numbers and ages). If you want to contribute towards the Hampers please also contact Gemma.

Thanks.

Weekly Contact 28 November 2011

Thumbs up for another great service, and hands up to God for His never failing presence and blessing. As Gareth said, "God is good", and as Colin responded "All the time". Hey, no matter what we're going through, whether it's the Church, you, me or the hamster, God is not only good all the time, but as Jonathan said, God is also always in control! So come on, let's believe these things and let's encourage one another.

GOD's PURPOSE: Jonathan brought another great word entitled "God's Purpose". Text Jer. 29:11. Having made a complete fool of Maxine by putting a blindfold on her and sending her aimlessly around the church, he explained that living without purpose is like living with a blindfold on. People with blindfolds on will listen to anyone just to get somewhere, anywhere. They have no vision, no purpose and no direction. However, the Chinese Proverb got it right by saying, "If Heaven made him, earth can find a use for him".

There are five things you should do to know God's purpose: 1) Accept and believe that God created you for a purpose. 2) Be determined to discover God's Will for your life; search for it and pursue it. 3) Do Something! Start somewhere and do something. 4) Be Patient! He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion. 5) Allow the Process to prepare you. Character is more important than vocation (calling); who you are is more important than what you do.

Thank God that one woman, who was a backslider, came forward for prayer and recommitted her life to Christ. Others came forward for prayer during the closing worship. This is something we plan to do regularly, to provide people with an opportunity for prayer by members of our Prayer Team. One young man spoke to me after the service. The last time I was speaking with him he was standing with a gun in his hand! It is so amazing to see God working on his life (don't put this in the Newsletter Bill!).

THIS WEEK: we once again have a full programme. Lot's to do! People to meet! Fellowship, teaching, and encouragement etc. Including Life Groups on Tuesday Night; prayer times Monday 11 am and Thursday 7.45 pm. BUT THERE ARE TWO SPECIALS:

GLOW CHRISTMAS DINNER: About 100 women are booked in for this on Wednesday night. Many of them are not committed Christians, so this is a great outreach and a great effort. Well done GLOW. For more information email Chara at charamck@hotmail.com

PAUL JAMES visiting New Life as follows:

Saturday 4 December 10 am-12 Seminars on Evangelism for THE CHURCH. Paul will speak on "Mission and Method". This is an event for EVERYONE; for YOU. Some came to the worship seminars with Jarrod Cooper, because they know they are called to be worshipers. However, if you think you are called to worship, but not to evangelise, you need to think again and you need to come out next Saturday morning. So come on, if you have not yet signed up to be there, do so now by emailing Colin Houston at colinriverword@yahoo.co.uk

Sunday 5 December 11.30 am Worship & Teaching and 7.00 pm Sunday Night Monthly Special. Paul will be praying for the sick and will speak prophetically into people's lives.

Thanks again to everyone who stands with us and who works hard for the development and advancement of New Life City Church.

Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Weekly Contact 21 November 2010

Sunday Morning: At the end of the service on Sunday morning, Pastor Eric McComb said, "These people make it easy to preach". This was evidenced, not only by big Colin shouting out his encouraging "Come on", but by others responding with similar audible approvals and with several spontaneous applauses. He also said, "I didn't know most of the songs you sang, but there was heart in the worship, and I felt that". He and Ruth thoroughly enjoyed their time with us.

The message he brought was from Joshua 14, and was titled "The Man who Loved a Challenge". Caleb's cry to God was "Give me this mountain". God had promised him this 45 years earlier. The promise was made in the face of negativism and opposition. Ten spies had negatively responded to what they saw in Canaan; the giants and the walled cities etc; they opposed Caleb's attempt to convince Moses and the people to cross over and to lay hold of the promises of God. He saw the same things they had seen, but his response was different, because he had a different spirit.

God may have given us a specific promise some time ago. That promise is not yet fulfilled, because the promise was not for then; it's for now! This made me think of Judah Smith's word, that our men listened to at the Momentum night away in Ballintoy, when he talked about "Being in the meantime" and encouraged us to stay in the boat and to not jump ship. We might not be there yet, but we're getting there!

After Pastor McComb had brought his excellent word to us, we went into another amazing time of worship and communion, during which time several people moved to the front and were prayed for by members of our Prayer Team. Church was good!

This Coming Week. There's always something each week for everyone. These are not organised to keep us busy, but to keep us connected and to help us grow. So, check out what 'Life Groups' are on, and plan to get along to one (email Gareth Spudmurphy123@btinternet.com to find out what's on and where). Don't forget about the Testimony and Barn Dance night on Tuesday night. £5 per person towards Pauline going to India on a short Mission Trip.

Then there's the Prayer Times, Monday 11 am, Thursday 7.45 pm, Saturday 10.30 am, but also, this being the last week in the month, we have our monthly late night prayer time on Friday night from 10 am - 12 midnight. It would be awesome to see you there. One of the things that Pastor McComb said was, "Kneel before God, and you'll stand before men".

Come on ahead guys and girls, Let's have a great week together!

Thanks again to everyone who stands with us and who works hard for the development and advancement of New Life City Church.

Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Couple Things

Alan Murphy has asked for prayer for a friend whose son is seriously ill in hospital with meningitis. His name is Mark; his father is also called Mark and is a Christian.

A girl who has been confiding in Kathleen in recent weeks is having to move out of her parents' home. She has a 16 year old daughter who has been away for several months and has just come back to her. The young girl is going through withdrawal from cocaine. They have a place to go to, but have no furniture. If you have anything you can give, please let me know what you can give. I will make up a list and then see what we can do to collect it.

Thanks.

Re Need Your Help

Gemma's number is 07921068960

Need Your Help

From next Tuesday night Youth Justice will be using the upstairs of City Life Centre. They will be paying for the use of the facility, but we are also providing them with meals for up to 20 people. These will be young people in the Youth Justice system plus members of their families. This is an opportunity to be involved practically and thereby build a positive relationship with the Youth Justice Department.

Gemma, representing HOPE, has agreed to take on board the organising of dinners etc, but we need your help. We need volunteers. The meals need to be served by 5.30 pm next Tuesday. If you can help in any way please contact Gemma by email revolutionyc@btinternet.com or phone 0792168960.

Please note: this is only to help provide and serve meals and clean up afterwards. This is not to get involved or interfere with the families as there will be Probation Officers etc facilitating sessions with them.

Thanks.

Weekly Contact 15 November 2010

Is it only me, or do others feel the very presence of God connect with us as we join together on Sunday mornings? Thanks to everyone for your contributions and participation. No wonder when we bring the message we do so with such anointing. It's our personal preparation; it's the presence of God and it's the hunger of His people that just draws the best from us.

The Right to Life: The past two weeks I have brought a hard message, yet one that has touched many people, even for some to the point of tears during the message. Thanks for the many encouraging responses, even from some who have lost loved ones or friends to suicide. One person who lost a brother to suicide wrote, "Thanks Jack. Your message helped me a lot. I feel better in myself about things that I didn't understand . Thank you for your insight in this matter." The main points in the message were:

1. It is my firm belief that to take the issues of life and death into our own hands is a direct violation of the Word of God, whether it's the taking of one's own life through suicide or the taking of another life through murder, abortion or euthanasia.

2. My challenge to all of us is that we enter the small gate and walk the narrow road, which, although is the harder path of submission to the commands and the absolutes of God's Word, is where we find life and purpose to life.

3. In regards to suicide: Suicide quite clearly is an act of sin as it is the taking of life that is given by God and is deemed by God to be precious and valued. However, suicide is not an unforgiveable sin; it is not an unpardonable sin. Suicide on its own is not a damning act; the damning act is the rejection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

4. It is not our call to judge. This is God's call. He is judge of all the earth and as such he will do right.

The complete message (in two parts) can be ordered and listened to again. The title is The Right to Life.

MOMENTUM: We had another good night last night as we listened to Craig Groeschel speaking on "The Forgotten Virtue of Integrity". Integrity is when your behaviour MATCHES your beliefs. He spoke on the four benefits of integrity, which are:

1. You will walk more closely with God
2. You will have a built in guide (knowing what's right and what's wrong)
3. You will have a constant peace
4. You will gain trust, respect, honour and influence

There is still time to sign up to join us this Friday night until Saturday morning at Ballintoy. It's only £20 for accommodation and food. The fellowship and the teaching will be amazing. If you have not already signed up please contact Gareth for more details etc at Spudmurphy123@btinternet.com

GLOW: Message from Chara: GLOW Christmas Dinner on Wednesday 1st December at 7pm. £5 per person (I'm sending an extra £5 with Kathleen so she can bring a dinner home!). Please invite someone along. Give Danielle names and money next Sunday at latest or email charamck@hotmail.com so we know how many are going.

Pastor Paul James: will be with us for the weekend of 4 & 5 December for a motivational weekend on evangelism. This will be another great weekend for the church. Please to be part of it. For catering purposes (tea and coffee break) we need you to sign up for Saturday morning. If you have not already signed up please do so by sending an email to Colin Houston colinriverword@yahoo.co.uk  This weekend is part of our Twenty10Renew commitment to you for training and spiritual growth. Your part is to sign up and join with others. More details are on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/?tid=1503717795221&sk=messages#!/event.php?eid=122402614487019

Thanks again to everyone who stands with us and who works hard for the development and advancement of New Life City Church.

Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Think of Others

It just dawned on me tonight that if there is one thing worse than judging people, it is "misjudging" people. We should not judge even when we're right (because then we're wrong!), but when we misjudge then we are right in nothing; not even the judgement! Does that make sense? Well, it will, but it will only make sense when you apply it! That's for facebook!

Our young people did so well on BBC Newsline last night. It went in a different direction from what we had thought, but the Belfast Telegraph helped to sort that out tonight, although their headline was a bit over the top! Pray for young Corey. He was brave to say the least.

Pray for Maxine's son who has gone to Afghanistan. He and 11 of his colleagues got into a fight with Jordanian soldiers (in Jordan). They could all have died, but they survived.

Pray one for another, not just because someone is not at church, but because you really care about them.

Don't forget Celebrate Recovery on Thursday night at 7.30 and the Prayer & Bible Study at 7.45.

Evangelism at New Life

In keeping with Twenty10Renew and our 5 Year Strategy we have organised a weekend of evangelism training and outreach. We've already had a great weekend focused on worship with guest speaker Jarrod Cooper, our next focus will be evangelism with guest speaker Paul James. Details as follows:

Saturday 4 December 10 am-12 Evangelism for the Church.
Sunday    5 December 11.30 am Worship & Teaching
7.00 pm Sunday Night Monthly Special
Paul will be praying for the sick and
will speak prohetically into people lives.

Pastor Paul James, who has been Senior Pastor at GateWay Revival Church www.gatewayrevival.co.uk since 1993, is at heart an Evangelist. In past years he has balanced being a Pastor and an itinerant preacher, taking the message of God's Word nationally and internationally both in words and in song.

Paul moves in a powerful prophetic anointing which will challenge you to the core of your spirit and bring about eternal change as you come under the Word of God.

He has recorded two music albums: Come Into My Life and Come Holy Spirit.

What an amazing weekend of witness. You know I have gotten to the point where it no longer matters who's not there; it no longer matters who's not standing alongside me, but what matters is who is there and who is standing alongside me. For this reason I want to thank all who stood with us, not only the past weekend, but from the day we launched New Life and especially since moving into our new building one year ago.

Seventeen years ago, God gave us Isaiah 60:18, "You will call your walls salvation, and your gates praise". He gave us this verse when we had no gates and we were nowhere near the dividing walls. Yet this verse has now been, and continues to be, fulfilled. The fact is salvation has come to these walls and praise has come to these gates, and as Jimmy Cricket said, "There's more"! God has not finished with us.

C U @ the CROSS has motivated many people, both within New Life and in other churches. For example, James Scott was motivated to Prayer Walk the streets for several weeks late at night and to witness to young people; others were motivated to walk with him at times. Colin Houston and Andrew Higgins were motivated to put posters, banners and boards across the Shankill and the Falls and to witness to many as they did. Eric McComb, Superintendent of Elim, was motivated to pay for Full Page newspaper adds! Up to 75 people from New Life and other churches in the Shankill were motivated to Prayer Walk the streets together. Billy Haddock, Tommy Latimer and others in Stadium Projects were motivated to make and put up a 20 foot cross. Many were motivated to wear tee shirts and hoodies promoting the cross. Men in county Armagh were motivated to lend us 13 foot cross to promote the event and a truck to use as a platform on the day. A few hundred were motivated to join with us between the gates. Others were motivated to meet around a cross in different parts of the USA and in other places. I will post their reports on www.cuatthecross.com.

What is our vision? "To be a God influence to the city and beyond..." Is this being fulfilled? I will let you answer this.

Jesus never called us to attend church, but to BE the church. He does not call us to live and settle in a changing world, but to change the world in which we live. I pray that more and more will catch this vision and in so doing will help change the world in which we live.

I don't know about you, but I'm not just going to sing about it, I'm gonna be a History Maker in this land. I'm gonna be a speaker of truth to all mankind.

Thanks again to everyone who stands with us and who works hard for the development and advancement of New Life City Church.

Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

24 hours to save Sakineh

Dear Friends,

Iran could execute Sakineh Ashtiani tomorrow. We saved her from stoning, now we have 24 hours to get key powers to take emergency action to stop this shameful killing.

Sign the petition!
Tomorrow, Iran could execute Sakineh Ashtiani.

Our global outcry stopped her unjust stoning sentence in July. Now we have 24 hours to save her life.

Iran's allies and key UN powers are our best hope -- they could persuade Iran of the serious political cost of this high-profile killing. Click below to send them an urgent call to action and send this to everyone -- it only takes three minutes and we are her last chance:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/24h_to_save_sakineh/?vl

Sakineh's adultery case is a tragic sham stacked with human rights violations. First, she was to be stoned to death. But the Iranian government had to revoke the sentence after her children generated a worldwide outcry against the farcical trial -- she could not speak the language used in court, and the alleged incidents of adultery took place after her husband's death.

Then her lawyer was forced into exile, and the prosecution conjured up a new trumped-up charge for which she would be executed -- the murder of her husband. Despite this being double jeopardy, as she is already serving time for alleged complicity in this crime, Sakineh was tortured and paraded on national television to 'confess', and was found guilty. Since then the regime has arrested two German journalists, her lawyer and her son, who has bravely led the international campaign to save his mother. All remain in prison and Sakineh's son and lawyer have been also tortured and have no access to lawyers.

Now Iranian human rights activists state an order has just been issued from Tehran to implement her killing immediately. She is on the list and tomorrow is execution day.

Our persistent campaigning led Iran to drop Sakineh's stoning sentence and captured the attention of leaders in countries with influence on Iran, like Turkey and Brazil. Now let's urgently raise our voices to stop her killing and inhumane treatment and free her, her lawyer, her son and the jailed German journalists. Send a message and share this emergency call with friends and family:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/24h_to_save_sakineh/?vl

A massive public outcry has the moral authority to stop heinous crimes. Let's use these 24 hours to send a clear message -- the world is watching and we all stand together today to save Sakineh's life and against injustice everywhere.

With hope and determination,

Alice, Stephanie, Pascal, Giulia, Benjamin and the whole of the Avaaz team

Bus drivers NEEDED for Revolution

Revolution Youth desperately needs help with the mini bus. There are one or
two who help when needed, but no one permanent, especially at a time when
the youth group is growing.

Mark says, "We urgently need a new bus driver who could take young people
home from 9:30 on a Friday evening. They would not have to be at youth but
be available from 9:30. Bus route currently includes, Ballysillan,
Glencairn, Lyndhurst, Springmartin and Shankill. All local areas. If we get
more than 1, I would work a rota out so ppl wouldn't be on every week."

Back Home

Great to be back home.

Kathleen & I had an awesome time in Texas. We had an amazing time of ministry and of meeting with new and "old" friends. Several people committed their lives to Christ; others reaffirmed their faith or recommitted themselves to Christ; while many others were touched, blessed and challenged.

We had a great time on our first Sunday morning at the Huffman Church, just outside Houston. This was our first time there. We received an amazing welcome and were truly blessed by their friendship and support. Sunday night we were at the First Assembly AG in Victoria. It was great to reconnect and renew fellowship and friendship with Johnny and Renita Knight and to minister again at their church.

The following Thursday I helped increase the temperature at the River of Life Church in Houston (Dr. Andrew Willis' home church). Man his people are so alive and vibrant they just draw the word out of you. No wonder the Dr. preaches as he does! He has to in order to survive there! But hey, I did more than survive! The place totally rocked.

Saturday and Sunday we were in San Antonio where I ministered at the Oasis International Christian Centre with Dennis Goldsworthy. Both the Leadership Meeting on Saturday and the church service on Sunday were God inspired and God anointed. Thanks Dennis for your friendship and your support.

It was also good to meet up with Joe & Lisa Giesler and their sons Joe and Charlie. Great family; great love for God and for others. We also met up with Jim and Sally Heurich. Long story here, but our hearts were broken as they shared the circumstances of the recent death of their 21 year old son Johnny. This is an amazing couple who have helped many people via Teen Challenge. Our prayers continue to be with them and with others we met with who have been going through "some stuff".

Being a God influence in a broken world.

Press Release Re Suicide

C U @ the CROSS is the churches' response to the tragedy of suicide across Belfast and beyond, but especially within west and north Belfast. This is a campaign against suicide and its causes showing there is a Better Way.

The campaign has been going a few weeks now, but is picking up momentum as it moves towards the 6th November when it will conclude with two special events. The first will be a gathering between the security gates in Northumberland at 12 noon. Many people and churches across the city are planning to attend this event to express solidarity with all who have suffered tragic loss that has impacted and devastated families and communities on both sides of the wall. The second event will be at 7.30 in the evening at New Life City Church, Northumberland Street, with special guest John Edwards from Dublin who will share an amazing story from hopelessness to hope and who now lives to help others.

The organising committee commend the great work that others are doing across the community, but Pastor Jack McKee, on behalf of the committee, said, "The church needs to do more than bury the victims of suicide, it needs to do its utmost to help prevent it". He further stated, "Recent suicides have had such an impact on my life that as a local pastor I have had one of those Popeye moments where I have said, "That's all I can stands; I can't stands no more"". Someone had said, "Jack, you should not get angry",  but Jack responded by saying, "Sometimes anger is all we have left". He further states, "The church is damned if it does nothing and it's damned when it does something! So I'd rather be damned for doing something, than damned for doing nothing".

While there will be a short service between the gates at 12 noon, this is not about the promotion of religion; it is not an ecumenical service; it is not about the promotion of any individual church; and it is definitely not political or sectarian, but is quite simply the church saying to everyone, "There is a Better Way that brings hope and purpose". We will take the opportunity to pray for all who have been affected and to pray for the future of all our children and young people.

The above events are open to everyone.

C U @ X

Excellent James. I notice the anointing increased after Kippers had left!

Sent: Monday, October 18, 2010 12:09 AM
Subject: C U @ X

Fourth night over and felt a bit different tonight there was something
barring my prayers Kips joined me tonight and it was alot quieter although
we thought we heared the spiritulist church as we were walking mayby this
was what was different. Kippers walked me back to the house and left but I
felt that my walk tonight wasn't over so after he left I went back to the
wall and started to pray again and there was a better flow.

I got a phone call tonight asking for advice on a young man who was suicidal
and wants help to work things out this is all we ask that those who are
suffering would call out for help and that we would be led to help where we
can.

God bless

Weekly Contact 17 October 2010

What a weekend with Dennis Goldsworthy. Both Saturday night and Sunday morning were amazing. I have no doubt that several people had very real and life changing encounters with God. I will not mention names, but on Saturday night several people testified that as they step up to the front they felt as if they were stepping into something tangible. There was dancing, laughter and weeping as people experienced and responded to the presence of God. Sunday morning was much the same, only on a greater scale as many more entered in and embraced the presence of God. There was no hype, but a genuine desire to respond to and embrace the truth of God's Word by taking hold of our God given inheritance.

On Saturday night Dennis spoke on "The Revelation of who you are". You are a son, a daughter, of the living God, predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son (Rom. 8:29). The purpose of this is not more meetings, but a greater knowledge (experiential knowledge) of the presence of God, so that we worship God out of who we are. If God took away many of the backbiting, negative, critical Christians the church would shrink in number, but the giving would not shrink and the worship would not shrink. What's important is not only that we know Him in terms of knowing we are saved to one day go to heaven, but that we KNOW Him because we have a revelation of who we are.

On Sunday morning Dennis spoke on "The Revelation of what it means to know Him". Those who truly know Him will pursue and embrace the fullness of the measure of Christ, and will walk and live in that fullness. They know that the way in (which is faith) is also the way forward (faith). Those who do not embrace this fullness believe they receive Christ by faith and then work for the rest! But those who have received the revelation of what it means to know Him understand that the purpose of knowing Him is that we attain the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:13).

The weekend also included the dedication of baby Joshua Christopher Edmunds, child of Chris and Rose. It was such an honour to dedicate this little one and to add our prayers to that of his parents and friends for his complete healing. Thanks to Jim Weir for blessing us with two great songs on Saturday night and to Lee McClelland of Teen Challenge for presenting Pauline Coney with a Bible to mark her graduation from Teen Challenge. Well done Pauline. We are all proud of you and continue to pray for you and your children.

LIFE Croups. I want to highlight these as I believe they will be critical to the development of New Life and to the growth of every believer. I cannot underline enough the importance of getting involved in one of these. If you want to know when and where (every fortnight) please contact Gareth at Spudmurphy123@btinternet.com

C U @ the CROSS PRAYER. James Scott has been so moved by God to Prayer Walk the wall up to the day of C U @ the CROSS. He begins at the New Life Mural at 10 pm. In recent nights he has been joined by Colin Houston, Kippers, John Cartmill, Thomas, Davey Nesbitt, Andrew Higgins. Some walked with him, while others stopped by to encourage him. WHY NOT JOIN HIM EVEN FOR ONE NIGHT!!!

Thanks again to everyone who works hard for the development and advancement of New Life City Church.

Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.

Re Come on Down

How much did last night impact those who were there? Well, I got this from James Scott before midnight last night:
It was good to be in church tonight, it has been the first Thursday I have been free to come to the prayer meeting. It's so good to be in fellowship with other seekers of God.

I felt drawn as many were to a vision of the so called peace wall. I felt that God was telling me that the physical wall was only a symbol and like all man made objects would eventually crumble.  In fact the wall symbolised the barrier that exists within the hearts of those in our community.  It's not until those walls crumble that this wall will fall.

I took this opportunity to walk the length of the wall praying for reconciliation in the hearts of the community and that the wall would be  taken down in the Glorification of God.  I did this for about 40 minutes I will continue to do this each night for 7 days or until God leads me not to.

While I was walking I prayed that the evil that existed here would be taken away and that the devil would loose the power hold in the communitity; just then a group of four young lads came walking up alongside me on the otherside of the road. I prayed that they would be apart of Gods plan in reconciliation. They turned to look at me and started laughing and threw stones across the road. I prayed that God would protect me.  They stopped and looked over at me walking along and then put their heads down and walked off.

The devil does not have hold on that which God has created

God Bless
James

Ps: From Jack. I asked James for permission to forward this. He responded by writing: "Maybe some can join me"! Email James at scott-j13@sky.com

Special Update

I know some of you don't like last minute things! If that's you, you need to loosen up! We had a great time tonight with Doug Norwood of Broken Jar Ministries. His message was another right on word. He reminded us that Jesus came on a mission, which was to fulfil the purposes and the plans of God and to totally destroy the works of Satan. He said that our mission is to destroy the walls of division between people and God and walls that divide people; that ours is the ministry of reconciliation.

He said that in this mission God will instruct us to do some crazy things, just like he instructed Joshua and the people to walk around the walls of Jericho; not only to do so once each day for six days and then seven times on the seventh day when they should have been resting!!!

He shared 3 Secrets to Spiritual Success as follows:

1. Perseverance. Patience is the ability to wait, but perseverance is what keeps you going: Six days... Seven times on seventh day...Perseverance.

2. Obedience. To do what God instructs you to do regardless of how crazy it seems or regardless of what others might say.

3. Praise: regardless of your circumstances. God dwells in the praises of his people. Thanksgiving is what you give when you've got something; Praise is what you give even when you've got nothing. This reminded me of our verse, "You will call your walls salvation, and your gates praise" (Isa. 60:18).

We finished off with a fabulous time of prayer and with an amazing time of praise.

Thanks to Colin Houston for making the contact and for speaking to the group of pastors today about C U @ the CROSS.

Prayer Request

Prayer Request from John Cartmill:
Jack really need this situation lifted up in prayer. My niece's new born baby Molly Margaret 6 days old now has been transferred to  intensive care unit in Antrim. She's has lost weight and continues to feed 8 mls in the last 24 hours. A dire situation for Molly, her mum, dad and the greater family circle. Please pass this onto the church asking for prayer, trusting this will be an awesome testimony in the forthcoming weeks. My sister has asked we pray.

Keep her lit! God bless, John Cartmill

Prayer

Sonia McClements mother has been taken back to hospital. Please pray for her. Sonia is obviously quite concerned. It would also be an encouragement to know that New Life is praying for her and her mum.

Staurday Night

Saturday Special: Don't forget this Saturday night with Dennis Goldsworthy. Starts at 7.30 pm. Forget about XFactor (or if you need your fix, record it!). I know it's Saturday night and you have kids etc, but what do you normally do when you want to go out for a meal or go out to the cinema? Believe me, God is doing something amazing, and Saturday is part of what he's doing. Don't miss it.

Christopher and Rose, who are having young Joshua dedicated on Saturday are providing tea and coffee and refreshments after the service on Saturday night. Another reason to get along!

C U @ the CROSS Tee Shirts & Sweat Shirts will be available on Saturday. Tee's are £5; Sweats are £12.

Let's help make this a Great Weekend.

LIFE Groups

The following is from Gareth. Please take these LIFE Groups seriously and get connected. These will be a great source of fellowship and will include amazing teaching....

Life Groups commence this week and will take place every other week. We have designed them with you in mind! Everyone of us constantly need to develop and grow in our walk with God as we seek to become more and more like Him.

Life Groups will be a fun, energetic environment as we receive teaching, tea/coffee and fellowship while discussing some key topics about our walk with God.

In the weeks ahead we will be looking at some frequently asked questions including:

should christians get tattoos?
should christians get/have breast implants?
can you be gay and still be a Christian?
should Christians live together before getting married?

This month we will look at the toxic things that can pollute our lives. First up this week is Toxic Influences looking at the things we watch and listen too. Each night will last for 1 hour and will include teaching, prayer & conversation so why not come along and get involved.

Weekly Contact Sun 10 October 2010

What a morning at New Life! The presence of God was truly amazing. It was so intense, because it was so real. Heaven came down and glory filled our souls. People's lives were touched as many literally came to the cross and as the Prayer Team moved among them and prayed for them. Thank God also that one person responded to the appeal and committed her life to Christ.

Thanks to Dickson, Andrew, Mark and Aine for the readings. The impact of music and lights etc was amazing (thanks Gareth), but let's keep in mind "It's not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord".

The message I brought was "C U @ the CROSS", a Campaign against suicide and its causes. I asked the question, Why should the church be involved in this and other similar issues? Why not leave this to others in the community? I gave three reasons as follows:

1. Because we are part of the community. We are not just called to attend church; we are called to impact the community.

2. Because the church is damned if it does something and it's damned if it does nothing: I would rather be damned for something positive than be damned for doing nothing.

3. Because the church has the real answer: The answer is not a new programme, nor a new project; nor is it turning over a new leaf. The answer is a New Life, thus the core point of our campaign "Showing there is a Better Way". That better way is Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the life.

So who was at the Cross? 1. The Mockers were there. 2. The Religious were there. 3. The Crowd was there. 4. The Fearful were there. But hey! The Committed were there. The committed are those who step up and indentify themselves with the Cross and with Christ. The committed are those who say, "If this is what he has done for me, then the least I can do for him is to meet him at the Cross.

The Cross is where I lay down my life with Christ and for Christ, so that it is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me. This led me to say, you can't kill a dead person! The Cross is where you lay down your life and take on his life. The Cross is where you lay down your rights and where you take up his cause and the cause of his Kingdom so that it's no longer what you want, but it's what he wants. The Cross is where you lay down your sin and take up his forgiveness.
Afterwards we had an amazing time of communion, ministry and worship.

MOMENTUM: A Great night with the men. We listened to Craig Groeschel on LOYALTY. It was AMAZING, especially when he did "Sarcastic Craig". We were challenged on loyalty with our wives; loyalty to our friends; loyalty to the church. We then had an excellent discussion on the subject matter. Thanks Gareth and the MOMENTUM Team for a great night.

Next Saturday 16 October 7.30 pm: NOT TO BE MISSED: A special event with guest speaker Pastor Dennis Goldsworthy from San Antonio, Texas. Also taking part will be local singer Jim Weir and a special dedication. We will also being promoting C U @ the CROSS. Please plan to join with us and invite your friends.

Thanks again to everyone who works hard for the development and advancement of New Life City Church.

Have a great week. Stay focused; stay strong; and keep being a God-influence.
